I want to share just a little about who Joey was and why we have started this page.
Joseph Wayne Graham III (Joey) was my grandson. He was born on May 12, 2011 and was the happiest, silliest 22 month old little boy. As you can see in the picture at the top of this website, he had a smile in his eyes and a personality that just shined through everything and radiated to everyone.
Joey was placed on a ventilator on March 12, 2013 - just two months shy of his second birthday. He had no brain activity and after several tests was officially declared dead on March 13, 2013.
The man accused of doing this to Joey is sitting in jail on First Degree Murder charges. His family runs another blog to rally for support of their son while my family has sat quietly by waiting for court dates and justice.
In the meantime our worlds have been turned upside down. Ten days after Joey passed away his little brother was born. This grandma now had Joey's momma, a newborn and my own young child to provide for. Unfortunately this came at a time where I was preparing to move away, had retired from my job and had packed my house up.
We can't say much of anything regarding the case on here as we will do nothing to jeopardize it in any way, shape or form.
But we can speak out about child abuse, about domestic abuse and we can show Joey's parents and the rest of the family that there is a lot of support and caring behind us.
See unfortunately so many people are quick to judge. To say very harsh, hurtful things about Joey's mommy and daddy. But they don't know the details, they didn't live in either parent's shoes and they certainly have no clue what each of them is going through. Because we need to remain silent there are many days that go by that we feel so very alone in this fight. The tension that is in our lives is unlike anything I have ever experienced before in my life.
I will be adding pictures of our Joey as time goes on and I will try to write a little story about Joey or give information regarding child abuse and domestic abuse as well. The statistics are staggering! But please understand that we cannot go into a lot of details at this point in time. Our time will come though. And this grandma will be shouting from the rooftops when that time arrives.
Trying to find a job again and have an employer understand the need to be gone for court hearings, motions and an upcoming trial that will last several weeks is nearly impossible. So I have set forth to turn my passion for crafting into a business and try to bring money into our home. If you are interested in seeing some of my products please check us out at www.facebook.com/acescraftingstation .
We are also going to be offering bottle cap key chains and zipper pulls, acrylic awareness ribbon key chains and rubber bracelets here on the blog. I will have those posted soon.
It is my job now to spread Joey's story and show the world who this little boy was. If each of us can make a difference in one child's life, in one battered woman's life, then we have served Joey and his memory well.
God bless you all and thank you!
Grandma Kathy
